PAY WHAT YOU CAN MUSIC!

Hey there!
It's Brad. Not Jacqui. Although she's here reading a book.

I have some good news. My band The Rising Hedons have released our album Head Full of Rain on a Pay What You Can basis. That just means you can get it for FREE. I can say that on this site because I don't have to pretend to be cool anymore. IT FEELS GREAT. Image is bul.... well anyways. So basically, if you want to hear my band.. YOU CAN.

htttp://www.therisinghedons.com

We're also doing a charity album of great music from Taiwan and finishing up our new EP.
Enough business talk! We're in the middle of a big typhoon right now... and baby sitting 2 dogs... and ours... dogstravaganza. Flooding... is happening... but not so bad.

How's everybody doing? We love hearing from you.

Hi mom.

Xiou shark

How cute is she?
For all concerned viewers....she liked the sand. It kept her cool and kept the flies off her. She slept there for hours.

the small update

heya folks.

we had a really great time back in canada. we have been known to criticize canada for being a bit boring from time to time...... but we sure did enjoy the great outdoors. Canoe trips, biking, hiking, running, beach and boats sure did paint canadia in a new light. it was great seeing everyone at home and let's all try to keep in touch more... we'll try to use this blog as much as possible.

today we learned how to season a wok so no more veggies will stick! it's quite the adventure on the gas stove.

it's great to see our little pup Xiao Hua again! she's a real sweetheart and she's still looking for someone who has a big ol' yard to care for her.

don't be shy. we love to hear from you. skype or e-mail.

Adopt an Angel

Little Flower {Xiao Hua} The world's sweetest dog

ADOPT ME? IT'S SO EASY TO DO!

Hey there digital friends. Sorry for the no update.... we've been crazy busy. But here is a nice post for you. Jacqui and I have been fostering two dogs for the Taichung Paws rescue agency. It's run by foreigners to help street dogs. One of our dogs has already been adopted, but there is one more and she's a sweetie.

The dogs are sisters and they were caught in gin traps meant to catch monkeys.... they are about a year old and really precious.

Like I said, one sister has been adopted into a great home, but sister 2 needs someone to save her.

Her name is Xiao Hua {SHAOW HUWA] or little flower.

It is easier than you think to adopt a dog from Taiwan and there are many charity agencies prepared to help.

email me anytime. lets do it. she needs a little help. 886-09-25421714 or brad.tindall@gmail.com

a little note

hi there internet world. it's brad here. i have been super busy the last little while... but i was feeling really sad for our little blog... so here's a little note.

im now teaching at a really expensive private school in taichung. i teach grade one and two.... i teach science, writing ... reading... and play time. ha. these kids have everything you could ever want... including a million dollar chuck-e-cheese type playground inside the school.

today we had parents day. i had to do a 20 minute demo with the kids... and a 20 minute talk about curriculum with just the parents.... I would have been really really nervous a year or two ago about doing something like this.... but taiwan gives you very thick skin in a hurry. it was a breeze and everyone is really happy.

so in conclusion. after a few months of mayhem. we have a new place to live. new job. my cd is being mixed in the states. my new band is touring taiwan in 2 months and we're getting a puppy (for a few months to support a local charity)

theres the update. peace out man.

it was paradise, need i say more?

moving day

new year's was spent moving. always fun. i looove packing. luckily the new apartment makes up for it. here's a couple shots of brad driving the moving truck. pics of the apartment will be coming soon. my fingers are too cold to take pictures.

pictures!!!!!!

heya all
after an internet hiatus and a few busy months here's some pics from the latest escapades.
Christmas was a quickie
we had a 3 day holiday and headed to the east coast of taiwan, to see all the natural beauty and clear our lungs and heads.
we started in Hualien, which is the city where we had originally tried to settle. we shipped our scooter over on the train and headed out to Taroko Gorge. our first time there was very cold and rainy so we were ready to give it another go. we spent the day driving up, hoping to see some snow and make it a white Christmas. unfortunately we were running low on gas and daylight so we had to turn around but we were already up in the clouds and it was mighty cold. check out the pic of the abyss up in the mountain.
the second day we drove down the coast then turned inland and drove through the mountains again. we finally stopped at a hotspring town called Ruei shuei or something like that and spent the night at a hotspring, bathing in rusty brown water.
the next day we discovered that we couldn't put the scooter on the train so we clocked it back to Hualien, then back home and back to work.

the crazy visa run

so... I had to leave the country because my papers were up. I sort of forgot that.... we are not really that welcome here... and some deception is required at the border to stay here. This is how it went.

scooter to bus
bus to taipei
plane to macau, china
taxi to the dirtiest hotel ever
taxi to the visa office
meet a visa director who makes an example of me "go to hong kong!"
taxi to ferry
ferry to hong kong
taxi to visa office
hand in visa application (10 minutes late. thanks hong kong)
taxi to hotel. hong kong is $$$$$$
taxi to visa office. get visa
taxi to ferry
ferry to macau, china
taxi to aiport
fly to taipei
get visa stamped
bus to taichung
scooter home
drink a beer

all this because.... well I don't know. There were definitely ways around it... but nothing that was in my control. What's done is done. I hope you have enjoyed this little tale of what it's like being here in Taiwan.
